Love these books, so positive! This book was great. All of the piggie and elephant books are fun and great for ages 2-5. We have had so much fun with them!Kids enjoyed this storyI volunteer for an organization which goes into classrooms and reads for one half hour each week. Mo Willams' s books are a big hit. I always start with We Are in a Book which is hilarious. I usually read to Kindergarten and first grade and they LOVE the Elephant and Piggy books and often will smile with delight when I bring them. This story is about a surprise and how hard it is to wait, but finding out the pleasure of the surprise was worth the wait. You really can't fail with Mo Willams.I have this book for my grandkids and they love it! I recently bought it for my great nephew. This is a wonderful book on a subject that's been hard in our house. It addresses the reality that waiting is hard and, usually, really worth it.Loved this! I definitely got it hoping it would help my impatient little one understand the concept of having to wait. It was a lot of fun to read and watching the light bulb come on at the end was truly amazing. Of course it didn't change her and she magically become a patient 5 year old but I think it was a good concept for her to understand and i do think it became a great reference point at times. I'm writing this review almost 2 years after purchasing bc she still loves this book and so do I.I purchased this book over a year ago, my son was 4 yo. Initially I got it, because he had trouble being patient and I thought this book would help. As soon as we read it, he really enjoyed it and wanted me to read it over and over to him. Although, it didn’t help him to become more patient right away, he did learn the lesson over time. When he wasn’t being patient, I would remind him about this book and how Elephant was rewarded with the surprise after being patient. It worked over time. This became one of my son’s favorite books. Now he is 6 and can read on his own, he always wants to read this book, however, he nearly has it memorized at this time.Today, I was looking to purchase more books from this series for my son to read. I came across this book, and after reading some reviews, I felt compelled to write a review myself. I can see how some ADULTS would find this book terrible, as it is just pages and pages of Elephant waiting and sort of whining abut having to wait. However, CHILDREN absolutely love these books, because they are simple and relatable. And they are super easy to read for beginner readers giving them confidence and love for reading. I highly recommend this book.Elephant and Piggy books and absolutely brilliant: I have bought every single one that has been published starting from when my 10 year old was little and now I am still buying them for my 5 year old. It encourages your child to read as they can read the narration of one of the characters and you can read the otherI discovered the Elephant & Piggie books a few years ago and loved them, but my kids have just really got into them, so I bought my daughter a couple of new ones for Christmas. She is just learning to read, and now she reads Piggie's speeches and her big bro reads Gerald's. (I get to read the walk-on characters.) I just love the way Willems' illustrations combine such simplicity with such expressiveness, and his stories gently convey really positive messages for young heads. Bless you Gerald. Bless you Piggie. Bless you Mo.My 3 year old picked this book out of the library and became so obsessed with it that I had to go and buy it, as well as several others in the series. We both absolutely love them!My daughter loved this wee book. Not a lot of reading in it, but it summed up how impatient she can be using fun characters.I love this book so does my 4 year old. Very funny and great way to understand patience
